The Canadian trail runner

my fitness journey

my fitness journey;

where do I Begin. 10 years ago… Lol.

So I had just had my heart broken metaphorically ripped from my chest and run over by a truck, driver delivering hate and pain. I was left devastated. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I have never been a person who believed in depression, but when that relationship ended that was the most hurt I have ever felt. So at that time I was 270 pounds when I had started dating her I was 200 pounds so in seven years I put on 70 pounds.

It was actually my little brother, who convinced me to start working out. He said, if not to start dating then to at least a Line, your mind and your body and get them on the same page.

So I started reverting back to my favourite hobbies and my favourite exercises only to find and realize at this age a lot of them weren’t doable. I would grab my skateboard and head out for a few hours go down to the skate park and impress myself with skills I still had that I thought I lost. But I was still quite heavy, and one mistake could be the end of me. Next thing you know, I’m trying to do a pop shove it down a three step staircase, and I rolled my ankle on the landing. I rolled it so bad my toes turn purple everyone thought I broke it, the doctors wanted me to go in for x-rays and exams and as it turned out, no breaks just torn ligaments. After doing short, six months of physiotherapy, I was ready to get back out there, but now skateboarding is just a fun cruising hobby there’s no longer any tricks in my wheelhouse.

I knew that if I messed up my ankle, one more time that would be it. It would be surgery, and I would probably never walk the same again at this age these things sort of just are forever problems now.

I started picking up trail running, it was something I did a lot as a kid. I ran track and field for high school and grade school. I was not particularly one of the best but I absolutely loved it so I started running again and I never looked back so I’ve been trail running now for the last 10 years and it is my all-time favourite workout, exercise, hobby. So trail running is my jam. I run 4K every other day and during the summer, I do big trail, running events along the Bruce Trail. I’ve tried to start a few trail running groups over the years but nobody really seems too interested in that I’ve considered joining the YMCA trail running group but they want $80 a month and I’m not playing that game. So I run alone no matter how many people I ask join me and it looks like people just don’t like it the way I do.

Over the years and trade, anytime fitness, Goodlife fitness, a few private gyms, and after all those trials and memberships I have found myself here 10 years later with a Crunch membership wishing I was still with good life.

Over the years and trade, anytime fitness, Goodlife fitness, a few private gyms, and after all those trials and memberships I have found myself here 10 years later with a Crunch membership wishing I was still with good life.

I cancelled the Goodlife membership during Covid just because it was $70 a month and nobody really knew how long Cove it would go for. Three years later, I chose the cheapest option, crunch for the Jim that I’ll be out in the meantime but soon! Soon I will head back to Goodlife.

my journey in fitness has had me doing almost every single class. The gyms have to offer all the yoga meditation classes, cardio classes, machine classes, and even hired personal trainers gain all the knowledge. Because I want all the smoke.

And here’s what I found works best for me

I enjoy running, so outside I run every other day for kilometers. It doesn’t take long. It’s about 45 minutes with a nice slow trot.

At the gym I don’t mind doing 15 minute running on the treadmill to warm up before I do weight training and kettle bells

I hit the pool as much as I can. I hit the sauna, steam room, hot yoga, and cold baths as much as possible, which is actually quite rare until I get the good life membership back but for those three years, a good life those were part of my weekly routines, and my body had never felt stronger and healthier.

I think the biggest game changers in the beginning of my journey was running hill sprints , first five times I hated it, but for the next five years, I spoke so highly about them, and I saw such a dramatic change from them in such a short time that Hill sprints are now part of the Fitness plan. Twice a week in the mornings before work.

so here I am all these years later if you follow me on Instagram and you know already that I am a world famous chef, so the meal prep game was never an issue, and now the exercise and the training isn’t one either.

so now I’ve never been healthier never been happier and I’m looking for my wife. I feel 10 years late to the game, but never say never it’s never too late. I just hope to find somebody who enjoys health and wellness as much as I do and someone who won’t give me a hard time for continuing this lifestyle that I have been in for the last 10 years.

I have other blogs with my meal plans, meal preps and fitness meal plans that I hope you go and read they will help tremendously with muscle building and or weight loss depending on your goal. Don’t be afraid to drop me a line send me a DM or a message and tell me about your fitness journey or ask for help. I am here to help.
